EDM and Me: Why I Love This Kind of Music

I listen to many kinds of music, but if someone asks me what genre I listen to the most, my answer is probably EDM.

I don't really know when I started to like EDM so much. I just know that whenever I hear a good EDM song, it can easily change my mood. Maybe it's the beat, the melody, or the drop. Or maybe all of them.

For me, EDM is not just loud music with heavy bass. There are many different styles, and each song can give me a different feeling.

When EDM Was at Its Peak

I think one of the most interesting periods for EDM was around 2010 to 2015. During these years, EDM became really popular around the world and started to become a big part of mainstream pop music.

A lot of famous DJs and producers became huge names during this period. Artists like Avicii, David Guetta, Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex, Martin Garrix, Zedd, and Hardwell were everywhere.

Songs like “Levels” by Avicii“Titanium” by David Guetta ft. Sia“Animals” by Martin Garrix, and “Clarity” by Zedd became very popular and were played almost everywhere.

For me, this period was really special because EDM didnt feel like just a niche genre anymore. It was on the radio, in clubs, at festivals, and even in mainstream pop songs.

The late 2000s also played an important role in the rise of EDM. Artists like David Guetta helped bring electronic music closer to mainstream pop, and this helped create the huge EDM wave that followed in the early 2010s.

Even though EDM is still popular today, I feel like the early 2010s had a different kind of vibe. Maybe it's because so many iconic songs came out during that period.

The Beat Just Hits Different

One of the main reasons I like EDM is the beat.

Sometimes I'm tired, bored, or just not in the mood to do anything. Then I put my earphones on and play some EDM. Somehow, I feel a bit better after that.

I really like the build-up before the drop. You know that feeling when the music slowly gets bigger and bigger, and then BOOOOOOM... the beat comes in?

Yeah, I love that part.

One of my favorite examples is “Animals” by Martin Garrix. The song is pretty simple, but the drop is so catchy.

EDM Is Not Always Crazy and Loud

When people hear “EDM”, they might think it's always loud music with crazy bass.

But that's not really true.

There are also a lot of chill and emotional EDM songs. One of my favorites is “It Ain’t Me” by Kygo and Selena Gomez.

realy like the vibe of this song. It's not too aggressive, but it still has that EDM feeling. Selena's voice also makes the song feel more emotional.

It's the kind of song I can listen to almost anywhere. While walking, traveling, relaxing, or just doing nothing at home lol.

Some Songs Give Me Good Energy

Another thing I love about EDM is how some songs can give me positive energy. For example, “Heroes (We Could Be Heroes)” by Alesso and Tove Lo has a really uplifting feeling. Whenever I listen to it, I kinda feel like I can do something bigger.

Maybe that sounds a little cheesy, but music can actually affect my mood a lot. Sometimes you don't need motivation videos or anything. Just put on the right song and suddenly you're ready to do stuff again.

There Are So Many Styles

I also like EDM because it has so many diffrent styles.

There is progressive house, future bass, trance, techno, dubstep, melodic house, and many others. So I don't have to listen to the same kind of sound all the time.

If I want something energetic, I can listen to “Animals” by Martin Garrix.

If I want something more chill, “It Ain’t Me” by Kygo and Selena Gomez is a good choice.

And if I'm in a more emotional mood, I might play “Faded” by Alan Walker or “Clarity” by Zedd.

That's what I like about EDM. There is always something that fits my mood.

Some Songs Bring Back Memories

I think this is one of the best things about music.

A song can remind you of a certain person, place, trip, or even a specific period of your life.

somtimes hear an old song and suddenly remember what I was doing years ago. It's kinda crazy how a few minutes of music can bring back so many memmories.

“The Nights” by Avicii is one of those songs for me. It has this feeling of enjoying life, going somewhere, and making memories while you're still young.

That's why I think some songs become more than just songs. They become part of our lives.

My Favorite EDM Songs

I have quite a lot of EDM songs that I like, but these are some of the ones I keep coming back to:

  • Kygo & Selena Gomez – It Ain’t Me
  • Alesso & Tove Lo – Heroes (We Could Be Heroes)
  • Avicii – The Nights
  • Martin Garrix – Animals
  • Alan Walker – Faded
  • The Chainsmokers – Don’t Let Me Down
  • David Guetta ft. Sia – Titanium
  • Zedd – Clarity

Of course, my playlist changes from time to time. Sometimes I discover a new song and listen to it like 20 times in one day. Then a few weeks later, I move on to another one. I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this.

EDM and Me

So yeah, that's basically why I love EDM.

It's not because I want to follow a trend or because everyone else listens to it. I just enjoy the way it sounds and how it makes me feel.

A good EDM song can give me energy when I'm tired, make a boring day more fun, or remind me of a good memory.

Maybe my music taste will change in the future. Who knows? I might find another genre that I love even more.

But for now, EDM is still one of my favorite kinds of music.

Sometimes you don't really need a complicated reason to love a song. You just hear it, feel the vibe, and think: “Yeah, this is my kind of music.” And for me, that's EDM.
